Table Before and After

I grew up eating on this table, my mom handed it down to me so my children can grow up with it.  Thank you mom.

This is my kitchen before I put the new table in.  I sold our first table we bought for this house on Craigslist the same day I posted it.  Perfect timing right?!  God's good.

I did lightly sand the edges around the table to give a light distressed look.

Now if I only had chairs to go with my lovely table....

Anyone have four wood chairs they need to sale?  Maybe I could fined cheap chairs on CL for less than $50....

  2. It looks great! I have to get over my fear of painting furniture. I'm so afraid of ruining the value of a piece. I keep seeing furniture that people have painted for resale, and it looks great. I want to do that too! I just have to get over that fear of destroying something valuable. Any tips?

  3. Just do it! I painted my cabinets this past summer. We were scared at first. But now we are painting everything! Good Luck.

  4. Love this! Did you brush the paint on or spray it on? We bought a lovely table, chairs and hutch off Craigslist for $250 that has a 1970's brown finish and I really want to go black with it. You've motivated me to try to DIY it!

  5. Looks great. What a great treasure that was handed down. We have my in-laws' original kitchen table. It's probably about 35 years old now and still works - pretty good. Great job.

  7. I fantasize about doing this to our dining table. It's my husband's childhood table and I would LOVE to paint it black. He says he likes the look of the wood design even though it matches nothing in our dining area. Sigh.
